The p111 R-pentomino hassler is a period-111 oscillator discovered by Mitchell Riley on September 16, 2022.[1] It can also be seen as a honey farm hassler. It consists of 4 pi splitters, 4 drifty eater 3s and 4 fishhooks hassling 4 R-pentominoes or 4 honey farms in some phases.
The active reaction of the oscillator can also be viewed as four isolated reactions that move around through four transparent ponds and four transparent beehives. Versions with periods 444, 222, 148, 111 can be made by fitting 1, 2, 3 or 4 active regions,[2] respectively.
On July 19, 2023, Chris857 found a 384-glider synthesis of the p111,[3][4] which was quickly improved to 380 gliders.[5] A cheaper still life synthesis found on August 29, 2023, allowed the cost to be lowered to 376 gliders.[6][7][8] On March 7, 2024, KtT lowered the cost to 374 gliders.[9][10] On June 5, 2024, Chris857 lowered the cost to 366 gliders.[11][12] On March 23, 2025, KtT used a cheaper still life synthesis to reduce the cost to 192 gliders,[13][14] and a further reduction to the still life let Chris857 reduce the cost to 188 gliders on April 6, 2025.[15][16]
